After the 1999 storm devasted the park, contemporary artists Andy Goldsworthy, Antony Gormley, Christian Lapie and Joël Shapiro imaginatively used twisted branches, oak and sequoia trunks as well as other damaged timber to create their fascinating sculptures. On the edge of the forest, a corner of the park is set aside for the ‘querceraie’ where over 113 varieties of young oak trees have been replanted. The walled kitchen garden also features a calabash arbour, flowers and a stream. |
